A Preliminary Investigation of Kitsumkalum River Steelhead Trout 1980-81

Increasing angling pressure combined with intensive logging in the upper watershed and growing human development in the lower watershed during recent years prompted the B.C. Fish and Wildlife Branch to conduct a preliminary investigation of Kalum River steelhead trout. The study had several broad objectives: to better understand and describe the sport fishery, to better understand run timing and movements of Kalum steelhead within the sport fishery as well as their wintering and spawning behaviour, to establish baseline biological data for kalum steelhead, and to identify management and enhancement options.
