Lakelse Lake Sockeye Rehabilitation Program

In 2005 and 2006, DFO worked with multiple stakeholders to develop the Lakelse Sockeye Recovery Plan in an attempt to halt the estimated 92% decline in this stock that was observed from around 1990 through 2002. The recovery plan identified stable sockeye spawning/incubation habitat as the main limiting factor to production in this watershed. A suite of projects to stabilize and begin rebuilding the population were implemented.
