Northwest Coast Traditional Salmon Fisheries System of Resource Utilization

This thesis presents evidence that traditional systems of salmon production were generally coincident with seasonal migrations of adult salmon returning from marine environments to fresh water spawning grounds. This characteristic movement of salmon biomass through successive time and space segments is the critical component in an appraisal of maritime adaptations on the Northwest Coast.
