A Creel Survey of the Lakelse River Cutthroat Trout Sports Fishery

Lakelse River supports an important cutthroat trout fishery that peaks during the months of April and May. Local sportsmen have recently voiced concern that the cutthroat population is declining, witnessed by a decrease in the size of the fish taken as well as a decline in overall success. The purpose of this report is to present an analysis of creel census and biological data collected from the cutthroat sports fishery on the Lakelse River during the Spring of 1978.
