Summary of Salmon Enumeration of Sampling Data, Babine River, 1961-1966 Counting Fence, 1961-1966

In 1945 and 1946 the Fisheries Research Board of Canada built a counting fence to permit total counts of all salmon species. Arc (1961) has discussed the location and construction of the fence and the counting and sampling procedures which were used to obtain vital statistics of the 1946-1960 escapements. The present manuscript updates most of the enumeration data tabulated by Aro. Procedures have been essentially as described in the earlier report. Much of the sockeye sampling reported by Aro has been discontinued. Comparable information is for the most part available from subsamples obtained on the spawning grounds but is not reported here. The results of some pink and chinook sampling since 1960 are included.
