The Prince Rupert Port Authority (PRPA), in collaboration with other partners, initiated the Port of Prince Rupert (POPR or PPR) Marine Environmental Water Quality (MEWQ) program in 2013. This program meets the objectives stated in the Port’s Environmental Sustainability Plan. The MEWQ program also contributes to the Green Marine program’s Environmental Leadership and Aquatic Ecosystems performance indicators, and it contributes required baseline information for future environmental impact assessments for many projects proposed in Port waters. The MEWQ program also enhances working relationships between partners regarding impacts on regional marine water quality. The reports are prepared by AtkinsRealis, previously names as SNC Lavalin.
