BC Pacific Salmon Forum

The BC Pacific Salmon Forum was formed in December 2004 by Premier Gordon Campbell. The forum was formed to provide advice and recommendations on opportunities to pursue the following three objectives:

  • Protect and enhance the viability of wild salmon stocks and their economic, social and environmental benefits to British Columbians.
  • Increase public confidence in fisheries management generally, and aquaculture in particular, in the marine environment.
  • Enhance the economic, social and environmental sustainability of aquaculture for all coastal communities.

The B.C. government allocated $5 million to fund this initiative over four years.
