Zymoetz (Copper) River Culvert Replacement and Outlet Channel (Site 77)

This project encompassed a culvert replacement to improve fish passage. Overwintering habitat by juvenile coho was isolated from the river by two perched culverts in the road. The project focused on culvert replacement, which occurred at 28 km on the Copper River Forest Service Mainline, approximately 45 km southeast of Terrace. The new culvert ensured up and downstream fish passage and the box culvert was removed to maintain adequate water depth in the slough upstream. Following the culvert replacement, a 50m long rock access channel across a gravel bar to maintain permanent access for juvenile coho into an off channel site was constructed, to complete the project. More notes related to this project can be found here. Related monitoring reports can be found here.
