The purpose of these studies was to examine maternal influences on age at maturity of Skeena River sockeye salmon which, when considered along with several other correlated phenomena, lead to an hypothesis of alternation of generations, e.g., age-1.2 female sockeye tend to produce age-I.3 offspring, of which the females in turn tend to produce 1.2 offspring.
