Sustut River Steelhead Investigations, 1986

The Sustut River, situated approximately 200 km north of Smithers, remains as the last major tributary of the Skeena to be investigated. It supports significant populations of summer steelhead trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) and chinook salmon (O. tshawytscha), and relatively small numbers of coho (O.kisutch), sockeye (O. nerka), chum (O. keta) and pink salmon (O. gorbuscha). Resident populations of rainbow trout (O. mykiss) and Dolly Varden char (Salvelinus malma) also occur throughout the drainage.
